Writing Prompt: Drama: Write about a time when you got stuck in between two parties fighting with each other.

Lorna sat back in her wooden chair and tried to keep her thoughts internal. The fight that was spewing out from the two on each side of her was mounting at a terminal velocity and a physical alteration was nearing inevitability.

Christa lashed out again at Faron. “You don’t even know what it means!” Faron stomped his left foot at her angrily and raised his voice. “You keep assuming that just because I’m not like you that I don’t have any damn feelings! Well. You’re wrong!” He stomped again to make his point. Christa scoffed at him and rolled her eyes.

“You can’t possible feel the same way we feel. You aren’t the same. You can’t just assume you know.” Christa did seem to be deflating a little, as if not sure she could win this argument. Faron saw his opening and struck, hard. “Maybe I don’t feel the same way you feel emotions, but at least I let myself feel things. You’re as cold as permafrost and frost anyone who tries to care about you.” He swung his arms around the room wildly as if gesturing at the entire planet. “Notice how you have no one here to defend you.”

The fire in her eyes renewed and this time it looked like the punches were about to be thrown. She pushed up her sleeves to her elbows and stomped right up to Faron and got in his face. “I don’t see anyone here in your corner either” she growled out at him.

“Of course you don’t.” He sneered down at her. “You scared them all away.” The fist came out of no where but Lorna had seen the tension permeating from both of them.

With Christa’s fist wedge in the palm of Lorna’s hand, Lorna stared Christa in the eyes. The seething hatred was simmering down and the shock was settling in over her eyes. Lorna didn’t check Faron’s reaction because she didn’t care. “Look. I don’t care if you two need to duke this shit out. I am just here trying to enjoy a shit tonic before I jump planets again. But you two are ruining my mood. You’re clearly human. He’s clearly not. You are also both projecting your sexual tension for miles. Please stop your bickering about meaningless shit. He flirted with a girl at the bar who didn’t bat him an eye.” Christa looked incredulous and like she wanted to interrupt but Lorna continued before she could. “And you got pissed off about it and decided to goad him into an argument. Get a room and deal with this like adults. If you catch my drift.”

Lorna turned to Faron and winked. She didn’t know exactly what species he was because he looked nearly human enough, but he could blush the same as Christa. She released Christa’s hand and walked back over to her table and sat back down and hummed into her copper mule cup. Forna and Christa had huddled closer and then walked out the door together, but not too close together. Hopefully, they would get that tension out of their system. If not for their own sake, for the sake of those who had to be around them next.
