Small Victory in Writing Town
My mission of 750k words in 2021 is off to a slow start that just hit a huge hurdle of losing my laptop. I bought my laptop last year with money I saved up from work bonuses specifically to write my stories. Unfortunately, my laptop decided it had been unhappy and broke. So I sent it in to have the fan repaired so I can hopefully get back to normal pace again soon.
That aside, I am finding ways to write anyway. I have a hand and pen/paper. I have a cell phone. I have a loving significant other that will let me abuse their technology to achieve my means of writing. And because I am a resourceful little writer, I am excited to announce that today marks the completion of my rough draft for my assassin story!
So what now? Well.... now I don't freaking look at it again until I forgot I wrote the dang thing. So, until that time, I need some distractions. While getting in that finale I felt the story needed, I have been writing down several story pitches to consider for next projects which includes new ideas and old stories I either wrote as shorts or that only got a small start. I have a small selection of options and I am still working through them. I hope to have a few of these plotted out over the next week and then I can begin writing a new manuscript before the end of January.
What are my other options? The other option I have considered is the full re-write of my first manuscript. After reading it, I would like to do some initial edits and make notes on the salvageable sections. I have faith that story would be really good with some solid edits and rewrites. I may take some time this week and do a basic outline. I also have made decent progress on a collection of stories I am calling my "Book of Nightmares''.
When exactly will I come back to the assassin story? For right now, the hope is sometime in February or March for the initial read through and alpha reading. I will give an update when that process begins. After I get through the initial edits, I will make the updates and get it prepped for beta reading.
