First Blog post

Thu Dec 03 2020

Very first time using my own blog to write on my very own site, very intimidating.

Where I came from: I wrote my first novel last year and while I loved the process of finally finishing a project, I didn't love the project. I set that story aside and hope to someday come back to it again and rewrite it better. It was a great story idea but the execution just wasn't what I had envisioned.

Where I am at right now: I just finished NaNoWriMo, winning for a second year in a row, and am still working towards 100% complete on my story. In total, the story has about 64k words at the moment but is only at about 80-85% done. This story I am very passionate about and I can't wait to finish it up and edit it.

Where I plan to be in the next few months: Once I wrap up that story, I plan to toss it in a "drawer" of sorts and forget about it for a while. I want to come back to it with fresh eyes and do the initial edits needed to make it ready for beta reading.

So, that's cool and all, but what am I doing in the meantime? Well, I am going to write my ass off. I joined a writing group and signed up to do about 750k words of work in 2021. That includes my blog posts, short stories, novels for Camp NaNo and NaNoWriMo, private journaling, outlining, drafting and editing.

Here's hoping 2021 sees more good days than 2020 did!
