Even without a laptop, I am making decent progress on my goals for writing this year. Today is the last day in my tracker for this week and I am at 11,604 of my 14,23 goal. Overall, I need about 3,349 words to break even on my goal for this week. However, I plan to try to get much higher than that if I can help it today. I spent the week writing story pitches for myself and then I made beat sheets/outlines for five of those pitches. I ultimately decided a couple were not up to snuff to be outlined just yet.
Last night I had my significant other spend some time reading through each of the beat sheets for me to help narrow down the best candidate(s) for the next project. With their help, I have officially landed on a project I am calling "Vigilante Queen" to be my next writing project. I am pretty excited for this story to be given some of my attention since it has been with me for so long. I have been thinking about this story for about twelve years, playing with concepts in my mind off and on and I have been hoping to get good enough to give it a shot. Now's the time I think.
Among the stories that got an outline completed this week, one of them is a re-write outline for my first manuscript. This one was my top pick, but this one needs some more love and space from the original draft to make it better. I also would prefer to have my computer and software back so that I can develop well defined character and world building sheets for the time being.
That's not to say the Vigilante Queen story is going to be lacking though. As this one will be a new project, I will start it out in another software and convert it over later. This process will be a lot less painful than taking a project already in the other software, writing it in a new one, then struggling to blend it back to the old one later.
Oh man, that's a lot of rambling to say that I am super excited that I have landed on a new project to work on while I space myself from the Assassin story so I can go back and edit with a fresh mind.
For those curious, the runner up project names were "Magic Born", "Book of Nightmares", "A Mortal Love", and "Insanity Plague". I am very fond of the Book of Nightmares, but that one was also started in the software on my computer that is out for repairs. Hopefully, I can get back to that project relatively soon with the return of my laptop.
Thanks for reading friends, keep reading!
